My new historical fiction short story IT CAN WAIT is now available in the Autumn edition of Literary Heist. The online arts and literary magazine is published quarterly by writer and developer Ryan D Brinkurst. It features an eclectic mix of artwork, pottery, articles, and short stories.
My story is based on the actual experiences of my great grandparents (Harry Strange and Maud White) during World War I. My great grandfather was a veteran of the Boer war who felt compelled to re-enlist after several close friends and family members perished on the frontlines. His wife, my great grandmother, like so many, had to keep the home fires burning and take care of their young children while he was gone. The specific events and people mentioned in my story are real, the conversation is my interpretation of how my ancestors handled those challenges.
