My Podcast

As you may know, I launched a Podcast a few months ago Fascinating People, Fascinating Places. The title is pretty broad because frankly I am interested in a lot of topics so I didn’t want to limit myself by going for a title that was too narrow.

With that having been said, Covid has proven to be an obstacle with various in-person interviews on various topics having been delayed. Consequently, I have thus far focussed on topics that I can cover without interviewees (e.g. history). However, this month I was able to finally escape the bunker and interact with three fascinating humans: Brother Sebastien, Sister Judith Russi, and Steven Betancourt of Loyola University in Chicago. The topic in question was a place that is near and dear to my heart: Taize. I went there as an awkward teenager some 25 years ago and had the time of my life interacting with new friends from as far as field as Burundi and Romania. If you’ve never heard of Taize it is an ecumenical Christian retreat but it’s open to everyone. When I went I met Catholics, Lutherans, Orthodox, and a fair few agnostics and atheists. Essentially, it is a safe haven for under 30s to discuss life, faith, God, the universe, and everything. Nott everyone is a believer but everyone has a “Taize experience.” My three guests put it much more eloquently than I can.
